Bay Meadows San Mateo Homes and Neighborhood Guide
San Mateo neighborhood guide
Bay Meadows is built on the 83 acre site of the Bay Meadows racetrack, which ran from 1934 to 2008. The city approved the Bay Meadows II plan in 2005, and the first homes broke ground in 2012. Today it is a walkable, transit oriented neighborhood with homes, offices and shops, with about 15 acres of parks planned at full build out.
Delaware Street is the main north to south street, and the Town Square at Delaware and 31st Avenue has shops and restaurants on the ground floors of nearby apartment buildings. The Hillsdale Caltrain station sits at the edge of the neighborhood, and Hillsdale Shopping Center is just across the tracks. The Nueva School opened its upper school campus here in 2014.
