Hillsborough neighborhood guide
Skyfarm climbs west from the country club area toward Interstate 280. It takes its name from Skyfarm, the mansion that William Willard Crocker, son of banker William H. Crocker, commissioned in 1928 after his earlier Hillsborough house burned. Architect Arthur Brown Jr. designed it, and it was built in 1929 and 1930. The Crocker property once covered about 500 acres before it was divided into lots.
In 1971 the mansion and 33 acres became the Hillsborough campus of The Nueva School, a private school on Skyline Boulevard. The school renovated the house in 2007 and 2008, including a seismic upgrade. The streets around the campus hold mostly later homes, with hillside views and quick access to Interstate 280. The nearest public open space is the Crystal Springs Regional Trail system across the freeway.
