White Oaks and El Sereno Corte San Carlos Homes and Neighborhood Guide

San Carlos neighborhood guide

Also known as White Oaks.

White Oaks and El Sereno Corte make up the southern part of the San Carlos flats, south of Brittan Avenue between El Camino Real and Alameda de las Pulgas, running toward Eaton Avenue. The area combines two original subdivisions: White Oaks, the larger section to the south, and Oak Park, a smaller section along Brittan Avenue. The name El Sereno Corte is often translated as the serene court.

The streets are almost entirely flat and lined with tall trees, so walking and biking are easy. The southern stretch of Laurel Street, with its restaurants and shops, runs along much of the neighborhood, and Burton Park is just across Brittan Avenue. White Oaks Elementary, which opened in 1945, sits on White Oak Way in the middle of the neighborhood.
